Madeline & Ned | Indianapolis, IN | Engagement Session

What a joy it was to finally meet this sweet couple! When Madeline & Ned booked me for their wedding this year I was thrilled, they are such a sweet couple in love full of style and class. I knew immediately that we’d be an amazing fit, and then when Madeline suggested we photograph their engagement session this spring in her parents garden I squealed with excitement! It’s always special to me, and my couples, to be able to photograph them in a location that is intimate and meaningful, and my goodness did this location not disappoint. From the blooming roses, to the garden fountain, to how beautiful of a couple Madeline and Ned are, I was in heaven… the love between these two is tender and intentional. The way in which Ned holds his beautiful bride to be speaks to the way he will always care for her over the years. There’s no doubt in my mind that these two where made for each other!

Madeline & Ned – it was such a joy to meet the two of you! Thank you for allowing me to be privy to your sweet moments, you are both such a joy to be around and I can’t wait for your wedding in August!

Julie & Bryce | Indianapolis, IN | Engagement Session

The love Julie and Bryce have for each other is easy. Their interactions display a softness and a sweetness, they can make jokes about each other and in the same minute their eyes will lock and it’s as if the world around them melts away. Not to mention, they are absolutely beautiful together! The way Bryce looks at his bride to be is one full of tenderness and adoration, and would you blame him? She radiates the sweetest most innocent beauty! I’ve never seen two people so excited to be in love.

When we originally planned their engagement session the forecast was calling for scattered showers (but a slim chance) so we made a decision to go ahead with the session, praying for the most beautiful sunset, but then lo and behold it started down pouring about 10 minutes into my drive to meet them. So, what do you do when your bride has a gorgeous bouquet from Accent Floral Design? You meet them for sunrise the next morning! I don’t think I’ve ever been more thankful to postpone a session. The weather was beautiful and Eagle Creek Park at sunrise was the perfect location to capture a bit of their love. Aren’t they just precious?

Julie & Bryce – I am so excited for you two, so thankful to call you new friends, and I can’t wait for your wedding next year!!!

Our Anniversary, A Life Update & Some Exciting News | Personal

Friends, Family, Friends-to-be,

Its humorous, when I launched my new website this spring I promised myself I’d start sharing more of my heart here, but I still have yet to do so. Life is so busy and I make such a point to get to know my clients on a personal level, but so many of them don’t always know a whole lot about me. So here’s to a fresh start! I’m hoping to get an early start by heading into the next year by sharing a little about what’s going on over here with the Link family. I can’t promise anything will be eloquent or honestly mean anything to anyone, but this is my heart so here it is.

Four years later and we’re having a baby!!

I always figured that a little one would make his/her arrival in a time where I didn’t think I’d be ready to be a mom. I figured it’d be God’s timing and that he would prepare me in ways I didn’t see coming. Bryce and I have always said someday we’d have kids, but it wasn’t anything that I particularly wanted right now. We got married nine months after I turned 18, so at ages 22 and 25 I felt like we were finally beginning to figure out who we are and how to love each other well. I for one have really struggled more than I’d like to admit (which God has SO used my growth in vulnerability) with depression. I’ve had a lot of healing and growth in my struggling over the past year or so, but “How can I be a good mom when I can barely take care of myself?” is a question I have continued to asked myself over and over even in that growth. I’ve spent the past four years convincing myself that I’ll never be good enough and that I’m no where near ready to be a mom and raise another person to live a life of joy.

So it make sense, right? I feel like I’m finally just beginning to grow into myself and really understanding who the Lord is and how he loves me. In the past several of months I have come to a place of surrender and peace. Being a police officers wife in a world that has little to no respect or understanding for the profession has forced me to become reliant on the Lord in many many ways. Although it wasn’t from the beginning and I still have thoughts that haunt me, I’ve found comfort in the Lords calling on our life. I’ve grown in trusting the sovereignty of God’s plan. He knows far greater than I do what’s best for us, and I can’t even pinpoint when it happened but I just trust Him. I wake up every day and before my feet hit the floor I make a conscious decision to surrender my plan, my thoughts, my fears, my life. All along I thought that this peace and surrender that I was learning and growing in was for the mere fact that my husband puts his life on the line daily for our community while it was most definitely for more than that. It was so that when it came time for the rubber to meet the road, and something outside of my plan came into my life, that it’d make sense to put into practice what I’ve been learning. While not every day is perfect I’m learning a life lived in fear is not a life lived at all so I’m counting this as a blessing, as I should and as it is, and doing my very best to walk in faith and not in fear.

Just two months ago I stood worshiping at a retreat I was a leader at and this little babe was in my belly and I had no idea! I teared up as I sang “take me deeper than my feet could ever wander, and my faith will be made stronger in the presence of my Savior”. I couldn’t have understood in that moment what God had coming for us, but He was preparing my heart in ways I didn’t see immediately and that I’m so thankful for. He is so intentional. One of the biggest things God has been teaching me right now besides abiding in the peace he gives, is that when we are willing to follow His call for our lives he prepares us.

Isaiah 41:9-10 says “You whom I took from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest corners, saying to you, “You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off; fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

When we are weak He is strong. He makes me adequate, Him alone. So in all of my doubt and fear in becoming a mom, He assures me that I am enough because I have Him. Its funny, it’s like He’s saying “Ash, you know me and you have began to grasp my love for you, but I want to give you this gift that will even further help you understand my love for you as my own child.” For me, this beautiful life that is growing inside my belly is not only exciting and terrifying, but a sure fire example of the fact that when we commit our lives to living for the Lord and trusting Him, His plan rules and is so sovereign over us.

The timing is really perfect. Everything the Lord has done in our lives and the things he has blessed us with in the past year have brought us to this exact moment. He’s prepared us in a way we didn’t understand as it was happening. There is so much joy to be had when you surrender your life to God. We’re thankful. We’re excited, ya’ll. This little babe is already a blessing, and we can’t wait to meet him/her.

It’s such a happy anniversary, season, holiday, life.

Every aspect of Morgan and Alex’s wedding day flowed with graceful elegance and peace. Having a history of more than 10 years together their sweet day was finally here! This couple is one of class and harmony. From the unique but timeless florals to the refreshing soft blue accents strewn throughout the day, and even the bit of time we stole away to get intimate on the rooftop terrace… each moment and detail was anticipated and taken in by the couple. You can tell by her expressions that Morgan radiated bliss and joyful contentment, and Alex’s seemingly unwavering attention of his bride in every movement she made displayed his awe and the wholeness of his love for her. The peace of this day is the kind that will surely stay with them and everyone who took witness to the commitment they made. It was such a pleasure to be privy to each intimate moment.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Williams!

Jenny & Chad | Chicago, IL | Engagement Session

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, and I’m beyond thankful that my job allows me to meet sweet new friends and explore such beautiful cities! The more I travel the more I’ve realized that I can feel at home just about anywhere. The way Jenny and Chad welcomed me to explore their home city in Chicago was nothing short of special. After getting to know the two of them a little better over a glass of wine, we headed out to explore the gardens of the Art Institute of Chicago. The more I photographed them, the more they opened up… by the end of this session I was laughing and smiling like crazy, but really who wouldn’t be? THEY ARE SO DANG CUTE. The love these two have for each other is so intimate and sweet. The way Chad holds Jenny makes it evident that he certainly won’t ever let her go. So incredible.

As I drove home the night of their session, I couldn’t help but be filled with gratitude for the people that I have in my life and the love that I am so preciously allowed to document.

Cheers and many congratulations, sweet friends! I’m so happy for you and so excited to see you again come May!

Sydney & Thomas | Indianapolis Wedding Story | As Seen on Wedding Chicks

Sydney & Thomas,

I knew from the minute I met you two that I loved you. Your style, your love for each other and the simplicity of the peace you have together. You are both two of the most easy going and relaxed people I have ever met. I laughed, cried (happy tears, of course) and smiled for the entirety of you special August wedding day. The entire day was full of emotion, but in the calmest and softest way possible.

Sydney I love the way your mother was represented so gently, from the subtle tulips to the heirloom jewelry. One of my favorite pieces of the day was the bracelet that Tory gifted to you. For those of you who don’t know, when Sydney’s mom used to write her letters she finished them by signing with the word “always”, so Tory had her handwriting printed in gold and attached to a gold chain anklet as a reminder of her love.

Every element of the day displayed the love and care you both have for each other. It was such a blessing to watch as you both delicately soaked up every second of it. I couldn’t have loved being there to witness it more.

So many congratulations and well wishes. You two will always hold a special place in my heart!

Yours Truly,
Ashley

Kristin & Steven | Willowfield Lavender Farm | Mooresville, IN | Wedding Story

Kristin & Steven,

Your day was full of so much joy. I knew we’d laugh together and I am just in love with how it felt to watch the two of you soak up every single moment you had on this very special day. The emphasis you put into having your day be a light to the people around you because of your love for Jesus was incredible, refreshing and so so powerful. It’s not every day that I get to worship along side one of my couples on their wedding day, and I’m so thankful to have experienced the presence of God in that moment and throughout the rest of your day. I said it then and I’ll say it now, I appreciate how on fire you both are for the Lord! Kristin, you just radiate beauty inside and out. Your abundant happiness and peace about life was evident this day and I had so much fun capturing the way you love life and your sweet husband! Steven, the way you look at Kristin is so delicate, it’s like you anticipate every move she makes so that you can fully enjoy her laughter, her happiness and her movement. Watching you interact, and being privy to each intimate moment left me in joyous tears and such sweet laughter. I walked away that night feeling so refreshed and renewed. Ya’ll are incredible. Keep being you and pressing into the Lord and following His lead in everything you do. I know for a fact that you both will do big things for His kingdom. I feel like I can’t say it enough, but thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of this special time in your lives… MANY many congratulations, beautiful friends!!

In Him,
Ashley

McCaela & Nick | Indianapolis, IN | Engagement Session

Joy.

The word I would use to describe this couple would definitely be joy, pure joy. Meeting McCaela and Nick was like reminiscing with old friends you only get to see every once and a while, where every time things just pick up where they left off… They are genuine, full of laughter, and beautiful through and through. Nick loves his girl in a way that is tender but strong and confident. It’s evident in the way he holds her tightly but so softly and even in how he looks at her when she’s not looking. McCaela’s eyes are full of light when Nick is close. She absolutely GLOWS and radiates happiness, content to soak up each moment in such a sweet and graceful manner. I felt connected to this adorable couple immediately and it was so much fun to hang out with them on such a beautiful evening. I’m so happy to have made two new friends <3

Congratulations, you two! I’m so excited for your wedding next year!

Tori & John | Vermillion, OH | Engagement Session

Tori & John,

It is ALWAYS an honor when family asks me to be the one to capture such sweet intimate moments, and your love story is no exception. All day we waited and prayed the rain away and I’m SO GLAD we did. The orange and red sunset sky at Linwood Park Beach painted a picture that represented exactly who the two of you are: soft, graceful and intimate. I squealed then about how gorgeous it was that very night and I do again as I go back through all of my favorites from your session.

Tori, I LOVE YOU. You are so full of joy. There is a peace about you that people wish for, you’re absolutely adorable and more than a pleasure to be around. I love your laugh and how easily John can make you giggle! It was so wonderful to be able to finally meet you, as I felt like I already knew you from all the things John has said about you! You live true to what he shares, you’re a true gem, little lady. John, I’m so glad we’ve gotten the chance to spend time getting to know each other as adults, it makes me wish that we would have been friends sooner! You’re always up for a fun time and I love how easy going you are. I love the way you look at and seek to serve your sweet bride to be. Hold on to her tight and never forget all the two of you have been through together!

I’m so happy for you two, and can’t wait to see what the future will hold for you! You’re going to do big things together, sweet friends. I’m so thankful to know you both and be a part of this special time in your life.

Love you both, bunches!

Samantha & Mark | Cleveland, OH | Couple’s Session

It was so fun getting to see these again a couple of weeks ago while I was in town visiting my family in Cleveland, OH! We photographed the first half of their session while the cherry blossom trees were in bloom in the Wade Lagoon at the Cleveland Museum of Art this spring, and then we waited for some of the green to show to finish up. You can see more from the first half of their session here!

As always, Samantha and Mark are adorable and it was a blessing to witness their sweet love for each other yet again… and this time I got to meet their SUPER cute pup, Tucker!
